Welcome to Acacia Adventure Holidays
Ten Reasons To Book With Acacia
- AFRICAN SPECIALISTS
Unlike some operators who have tours on three, four or more continents, Acacia is an independently owned company, based in London and Cape Town but with branch offices in Livingstone, Johannesburg and Nairobi, which deals ONLY with Africa.
This means that we can devote all our time and energies to that wonderful continent and focus completely on our own tours. It's this focus that allows us to offer you an enormous breadth and range of tours (over 100 tours and counting) and safari and very frequent departures - some tours depart daily, others have set departure dates (to maximise the group experience for clients) - on almost all tours.
- OUR EXPERIENCE
We've been operating in Africa since the early 1990s. Within Africa we have some of the most enthusiastic and experienced people in the industry.
All our London office staff have personal experience travelling, or tour leading, or living (or all three!) in Africa. Our London team assists with reservations and general administration, our Cape Town office handles both operations and reservations.
Both offices are staffed by experienced enthusiastic people, most of whom choose Africa as their own holiday destination.
- OUR PRICE
With Acacia there are NO hidden extras. When considering a holiday in Africa you need to check prices and products before you buy.
Nobody likes to pay more than necessary but sometimes it can be easy to be misled by something that looks too cheap. The general advice is, if it looks too cheap, then it probably IS too cheap!
Our prices are as competitive as possible but realistic to ensure services are provided to the level you would expect and that this is done without sacrificing safety and safeguards.
Also being half African we like it that some of what you pay remains in Africa to benefits local communities and businesses.
Some tours have a locally paid element to the price. This assists local African suppliers to be paid at the time they provide the service and that they receive the money with no middleman scooping a commission!
On our 'Overland' tours the Local Payment is transparently administered by the tour leader and any money left over at the end is refunded to clients. On other tours, the LP contributes significantly toward the direct 'on-ground' costs of running the tour.
- OUR PRICE PROMISE
In this day and age with fluctuating exchange rates sometimes what you see in a travel brochure is not what you actually pay for your holiday.
Some changes are difficult to avoid but we make you this promise: once you have paid in full for your tour, we promise not to surcharge your Tour Price!
- FLEET OF VEHICLES
Ask anybody. Our fleet of Overland safari vehicles are amongst the most modern and well appointed vehicles around.
As well as the 'basics' - such as long range fuel tanks, all camping and cooking equipment (except a sleeping bag), seat belts, sound system, security safe, we have a few extras - freezer, mp3 player jack, digital camera battery charge facility.
- RESPONSIBLE TOURISM
Acacia have operated in Africa since the early 1990s, in that time we have come to know and use selected local ground handlers and suppliers in the countries we visit.
This not only provides you with the very highest levels of service and local knowledge but also gives you the satisfaction of knowing that a good part of the money you pay for your African holiday actually stays in Africa.
Examples include local schools in Uganda, Townships in South Africa, ground handlers and guides in Tanzania and Kenya, wildlife associations, even the opportunity of listening to locally produced and very contemporary hip-hop from Nairobi!
Local communities benefit from the sensible development of Acacia's tours and your participation greatly helps.
- PEACE OF MIND
Acacia is a fully bonded member of Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) and has an Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL).
We are bonded for your financial protection. These organisations are very consumer oriented and offer customers advice and a course of action in the unlikely event of a problem arising on tour that cannot be resolved by the tour leader.
- YOU'RE IN SAFE HANDS
Over the years in specialising in African travel we have created an extensive network of local contacts and operators throughout Africa who can assist if anything should go wrong on a tour.
The mystery of Africa is in its unpredictability, but it is nice to know that that risk is minimised when travelling with a reputable operator like Acacia.
- EASE OF BOOKING
Acacia has an online booking facility which allows you to book yourself on a tour (subject to seats being available, of course).
We make no extra charge for paying with your credit or debit card, and we charge nothing extra if (for example) you need a night's accommodation before or after your tour (generally you pay direct to the hotel itself), With frequent departures we have plenty of seats available and we can take bookings almost right up to the day before a tour departs! (Of course you would need, in that case, to have your passport and other travel documents in order).
Our staff would be happy to talk to you about this, or about any Africa related travel plans to find the best suited tour for you.
- DISCOUNTS. GROUP AND EARLY BIRD AND KILIMANJARO
Our breadth of product and frequent departures allows us to offer various combination discounts.
Book a Kilimanjaro trek (departs daily) with any Overland tour and receive a 25% discount on the Kili trek!
If you can plan more than 6 months in advance why not take advantage of our 10% 'early bird' discount? Got some friends together and want to travel together? Ask about our group discount and pocket the savings.
Interested in a couple of different tours? Ask about our combination discounts. Travelled with us before? Welcome back! To show how pleased we are to see you again, we'll give a discount on your next trip.
Once again, ask for details.
Our background
Acacia began life in the late 1980s/early 90s when our first overland trucks set off across the continent on three month trans- African expeditions from London to Kenya over-land.
Since those days we have grown in size and experience, developed our love, knowledge and respect for Africa, taken the time to refine our tour itineraries, honing in those areas which passengers enjoyed the most, broadened and deepened the popular highlights - such as game viewing - and strengthened our strong ties with Africa's people.
Today, in addition to our range of Overland tours we offer a host of other travel experiences including small group safaris, adventure tours, volunteering packages, city breaks, dive packages and comfortable beach stays.
Yet we still keep our original goal - to provide exciting, affordable tours for those with a lust for Africa.
