Celebrities Climb Kilimanjaro
Chris Moyles, Cheryl Cole, Gary Barlow and Ronan Keating are amongst a group of UK celebrities in training to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief this February. While not a likely group of trekkers, they just go to prove that anyone can give it a go as long as you’re active, healthy and willing to put in a bit of training beforehand. They’re starting their trek within the next two weeks and for anyone on our own Kilimanjaro treks who spot any of the celebs on the mountain and can prove it with a photo, we will give £5 to Comic Relief. Lions in Livingstone!
January saw some very special arrivals in Livingstone, Zambia, in the form a group of lion cubs. The cubs are between 3 and 16 months and all rescue animals, due to be rehabilitated and released into the wild when older. In the meantime, visitors to Livingstone will be able to take a ‘Walking with Lions’ encounter and spend a supervised 90 minutes with them in the bush, learning about their species and the work done by the conservation project. It’s a brilliant alternative to white water rafting at nearby Victoria Falls but no less exciting!

Indaba 2009 hits Durban
The Acacia team will be out in force again at this year’s Indaba industry travel show, along with one of the trucks from their overland fleet. The Indaba show, held in Durban every year, will run in early May and visitors (agents and suppliers alike) will be able to board Acacia’s truck, check out its facilities and equipment and hold meetings with the team to discuss trade working relationships. Acacia is confident that this year will offer great opportunities for their continued success. With over 1800 delegates expected, this year is set to be biggest and best yet.
